Blog 2 : My best vacation





I believe the best vacation I have with my family was when we went to Puerto Montt and from there we did different trips to lake Llanquihue, Chiloé and Maillen island.

I only have fourteen years old and it was probably the first vacation we have with my dad in several years. He was a workaholic, as they say, and whenever summer vacation arrived I usually went on small trips with my mother, grandparents or some friends and, occasionally, very short trips for the day to beach with my dad. 

So this time was kind of a big deal since the only time I spent more than a week with my dad was when he broke his leg playing football. He was over two months in a wheelchair at the house, in mid-summer and in a foul mood, as they say.

We visited Osorno volcano, Puerto Varas, Ancud and the weather was great the whole week, with no rain at all. We even ate a sheep on Maillen island since we spend a few days on the house of a coworker of my dad. I still remember the herd looking at us from the other side fence while the old man of the house hang up the sheep to a tree and cut it’s throat. 

I didn’t dare to try the cup of blood he offered me afterwards, though.

    Have vacations with your family can be a grat experience, because all of the members take a time to travel together. Also, Puerto Montt is beautiful; at least that's what I see on pictures, haha :(

    the south of chile such a beatifull place to be, and i guess it was really special because you had the opportunity to be there with your father

    Nice vacations! The Lake's region is very beautiful, one time with my family travel in the car of many of the lakes, like the cueca "Todos los lagos", very funny.
    Nice to hear you enjoy the vacation with your dad, that's are the moment we remember always.

    t's great that you got to spend those days with your dad! sounds so peaceful the south... sad for the sheep though :c

A country I would like to visit

I would like to visit Canada, because in the future I would like to assist to a film school in Vancouver. I dont know much about Canada, except canadians speak French only in some areas but they also speak english, so at least they would understand a bit of what I have to say. I know it's cold on winters and usually rains a lot, but I was born on winter so it doesnt bother me. I never like warm/arid weathers anyway (so studying in México or L.A. is out of question), but I like the coast weather better.  Like I said, I would love to study filmmaking in Vancouver but I dont think I would like to live there. Basically, I would prefer to live on a place where people at least speak my native language. I would like to do every little thing a tourist does though, like eat different food and drinks, visit traditional places or learn other costums, and maybe teach the natives that it doesnt matter who you pronounce quinoa whatsoever (a personal crusade of mine).

I didn’t like much the film because I feel like the director focus a little too much on the duality of the two brothers fighting for the liberation of Ireland and their opposite views on how the conflict should be resolved. Basically, one brother is willing to compromise with England and the other doesn’t.   They both have very good reasons to fight, like when the english soldiers gratuitously killed a neighbor of theirs, but we don’t spent much time to know the people they are fighting for besides the one "hockey-like" game they are all playing at the beginning of the film.  At one point, one of the brothers, Damien, shot a friend he knew his entire life, who betrayed him and his brother. And then he tells his future wife about the time he went to vist the mother of his friend, to tell her where she could find her son’s grave. My future job

I would like to work as an editor for a film in the future, or any audiovisual content like advertising, television, etc (but mostly film, because national televison in general pay less for the editor's work and his job is very underrated). I realized while working in a short film, since I study Cine y televisión in ICEI, the work I enjoyed the most in the filmmaking process was the editing of the material in the comfort of my room with a cup of tea. It sounds a bit out of touch and lonely but it really isn’t.  Ultimately, I depend on the work of several people for the realization of the short, and my work consist in taking all that effort to create the film everyone intended to make and more.  Although post-production is the most time consuming part of the whole process (the shooting of a film might take thee weeks to two months, while post-production can take over a year), I find it to be the less stressful.
